Not your ordinary vase, each piece is fully mouth-blown in a wooden mold. It has been dipped in ice-cold water and baked in the hottest of ovens. It’s the mastery of one of the craftsmen we met on our journeys through China, over 20 years ago. Bursting with confidence, this daredevil from the Ming dynasty lives life on the edge. But don’t be fooled: the design might look as if it can burst at any moment; it is as strong as your favorite superhero. As it had a life before you, it will have one after you too. “The instant shock the glass gets from the water gives the design its delicate cracks. After bathing, I place the vase back in the mold, and into the oven, where it is baked for two minutes, turning it into a waterproof piece of art.” – Glassblower
